Topic 4: Peer Review Analysis, Collaboration, and Professional Growth

In Topic 4 of SPD-577, I reflected on feedback from my four peer reviewers: Ari, Stephanie, Marissa, and Dr. Hillard. Their feedback provided valuable insight into my Autism Action Research Project, which examined the relationship between family participation in the IEP process and educational outcomes for students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

One of the most important lessons I learned was the value of clearly communicating research findings so that other educators can apply them to their own professional practices. Feedback from my reviewers encouraged me to provide more detailed explanations of my findings and strengthen the connections between family involvement, collaboration, and student progress.

This experience reinforced the importance of accepting constructive criticism and recognizing that professional growth requires reflection and a willingness to make improvements. As a special education teacher, I regularly collaborate with families, paraprofessionals, administrators, and related service providers to support students with diverse learning needs.

Moving forward, I plan to apply what I learned by strengthening family-school communication, using student progress data to guide decisions, and seeking opportunities to collaborate with colleagues. These practices will support my continued development as an autism specialist and educational leader.
